Ana Acevedo’s business, Blue Moves Swimwear, produces more than 1,000 pieces of clothing in every color available, but the recent increase in sales and demands project that the number will double by next year.
Blue Moves Swimwear is a bathing suit brand registered and based in Puerto Rico, that specifically caters to young women between high school and college.
“I made this brand inspired by my experience when I was young. A lot of young Puerto Rican women love fashion and frequenting the beach, but can’t afford to break the bank, because they must focus on becoming financially independent. My products are aimed specifically for them,” said Acevedo.
The Blue Moves brand can be found in several stores across the island like Kókomo, Tres Palmas P.R, and Waves Surf and Fishing. Other than going directly to stores, customers can purchase swimsuits directly from the Blue Moves website.
“Working in collaboration with the stores is very good for growing as a business, because not only do you gain visibility, but you also get a better understanding of what your customers are buying,” added Acevedo.
This bathing suit company designs its pieces to be tailored to perfection for every woman’s body type, ensuring a secure fit and longevity.
Along with expanding production, Blue Moves has recently begun a process of changing all its fabrics to ensure that they are all eco-friendly or the least harmful to the environment.
“You have to grab opportunities when they come up and really hold on to them. The tip that has helped me keep this business afloat for more than 28 years, is to never forget your mission and who your target audience is. Always strive for the same end goal,” said Acevedo.
